You're Not Ready & You Never Will Be

Life has a funny way of telling us we’re never truly ready. Whether it's starting a business, becoming a parent, or stepping into a new role, there's always that moment of doubt. But here's the truth: you're never going to be fully prepared. And that's okay. In fact, it's a part of life.

The Illusion of "Being Ready"

Think about it: Have you ever been in a relationship and thought, "We're not quite ready for kids yet"? So, you get a dog to test your parenting skills, right? You tell yourself that if you can keep this pet alive and healthy, maybe you're ready to take the leap into parenthood. But, let’s be real — you’ll never truly feel "ready."

When I had kids, I was excited and thought I was prepared. But the moment they arrived, I realized just how unprepared I was. I learned on the go. As much as I thought I had it all figured out, life had a way of showing me that readiness is a myth.

Raising children has been a journey, full of moments where I felt completely out of my depth. From sleepless nights to toddler tantrums, I read every book, followed all the advice, and still had no idea what I was doing half the time. But guess what? I grew with them. They taught me just as much about life as I taught them. And that’s the thing — we grow through every challenge, and no one is ever truly ready for what's ahead.

Embrace the Uncertainty

If you're considering starting a business or pursuing a new career, ask yourself: Are you ready? The answer is likely no. But don’t let that stop you. Until you've actually experienced what running a business entails, you won’t know the sleepless nights, the study, and the constant hustle. It’s not all glamorous, but it’s worth it.

For example, I come from a real estate background, and I’ve met many aspiring agents who think the job is just about showing houses and sipping coffee. That’s just a small part of it. The reality is, success in real estate requires hard work, countless hours of learning, dealing with rejection, and managing customer relationships. If you think it’s all easy, then you’re not truly prepared — but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.

Leadership: You’ll Never Feel Fully Prepared

Starting a business or stepping into a leadership role can be intimidating. When I first owned my own business, I thought I was ready. After all, I had experience managing teams. But when it came to running my own business, I quickly realized how much I still had to learn. Leadership, especially when managing staff and finances, is something you can never fully prepare for. You’ll face challenges that you didn’t expect, and that’s okay.

I’ve had moments where I had to deal with staff conflicts, financial issues, and customer complaints — all while trying to keep everything running smoothly. I learned on the job, and honestly, I made a lot of mistakes. But those mistakes shaped me into a better leader.

Don't Wait for the "Perfect" Moment

If you're waiting for the "perfect" moment to start something — whether it’s a new business, a career move, or even personal development — you’re going to be waiting forever. Life is unpredictable. The lights won’t always be green when you want to go, and waiting for everything to line up perfectly means you’ll never take action.

Remember, success doesn’t come from waiting until everything is just right. It comes from taking that first step, even when you don’t feel fully prepared. If you keep waiting for the right moment, it may never come.

Take Action Now

If you’ve been putting off a goal because you think you're not ready, now is the time to change that mindset. Don’t let fear, finances, or doubt hold you back. Every successful person has had to take a leap of faith, even when they didn’t feel ready.

I’ve failed many times in my life, but the one thing I never regret is trying. I’d much rather look back and say, "I gave it my best shot," than wonder "What if?" Don’t let that "what if" be your story. Start today, embrace the uncertainty, and trust that you’ll grow along the way.

Create the Life You Want

The truth is, life is messy, and none of us are ever truly prepared for the challenges we face. But that’s the beauty of it — we grow, learn, and adapt with every experience. So, take that leap of faith. Whether it's starting a new business, pursuing a new career, or taking on a personal challenge, the time to start is now.

Don’t wait for the "perfect" moment. Step up, create the life you’ve always wanted, and leave a legacy you can be proud of.

In January 2024, I attended a Performance Mastery Morning. At the time, I was feeling dissatisfied with aspects of my life it was time for a change. That workshop proved to be a game-changer. The process enabled me to define clear, actionable goals, develop a realistic plan, and implement a method for tracking my progress.Looking back over the past 12 months, I achieved every single goal I set for myself in 2024. The insights and tools I gained from Kingsley’s workshop were instrumental in keeping me focused and motivated throughout the year.I have already secured my spot for the 2025 workshop.
